Fiscal sponsorship

Your event, our 501(c)(3)

Fiscal sponsorship means your community event operates under our non-profit status. You keep your name, your team and your program. We provide the legal entity, the bank account, the insurance and the back office.

Is this for you?

Built for volunteer-run tech communities

We sponsor events that are community-led, vendor-neutral and open to practitioners. If most of these are true, we should talk.

  • You run a meetup, community day or conference in the cloud native, Kubernetes, AWS or broader cloud space
  • Your organizing team is volunteers
  • Sponsors want to pay a registered non-profit, and you do not have one
  • You need event insurance and a signatory for the venue
  • You want to keep any surplus for next year's edition
  • Your event is in New York or Egypt, where we already operate, or you are open to working with a US 501(c)(3) from elsewhere
How it works

Four steps, start to surplus

What happens between the first email and the closed books.

  1. Step 1

    Intro call

We walk through the event, the budget and the timeline, and give you a clear yes or no.

  2. Step 2

    Sponsorship agreement

A short agreement sets out the fee, what we handle and what you handle. We open a dedicated fund and add your event to our insurance.

  3. Step 3

    We run the back office

Sponsor contracts and invoices, venue and vendor payments, ticket revenue, refunds and fund statements.

  4. Step 4

    Close the books

We reconcile the fund, file what needs filing and carry the surplus into next year.

What is included

What we handle and what stays yours

The split is written into the sponsorship agreement, so both sides know who owns what.

We handle
  • Legal entity: your event operates under our 501(c)(3)
  • Dedicated fund and bank account with statements
  • Sponsor agreements, invoicing and collection
  • Venue and vendor contracts signed and paid by us
  • Event liability insurance and certificates for venues
  • Ticketing payouts and refunds through our processor
  • Accounting, tax filing and compliance
Stays yours
  • Your brand, name, website and social accounts
  • Program and speakers, the call for proposals and the schedule
  • Sponsor relationships: you sell, we paper and invoice
  • Volunteers and the day itself
  • Budget decisions within the fund (we sign off on spend)
  • The surplus, carried into your next edition
What it costs

No upfront cost

We charge an administrative fee that covers accounting, insurance, payment processing and our time. The rate depends on the event and is agreed before you sign. Nothing is due upfront. Ask us for terms.

How the fee works
  • Nothing upfront. You pay nothing to start.
  • Depends on the event. Size, format and what you need from us set the rate.
  • Agreed before you sign. The rate and what it covers are written into the sponsorship agreement.

FAQ

Questions organizers ask first

Short answers here; the agreement has the detail. Anything else, email us.

Do we lose control of our event?

No. You keep the brand, the program and the team. We hold the money and sign the contracts, and we approve spend against the fund you raised.

What happens to leftover money?

It stays in your event fund for the next edition.

Where do you sponsor events?

New York since 2024 and Egypt from 2027, starting with KCD Cairo in April. Elsewhere, case by case: email us.
